The Story of Button Stool
For over 30 years, Mitab has been one of Sweden’s leading furniture brands. With its roots in the town of Tranås in Småland, an area long associated with furniture manufacturing, Mitab’s design philosophy is built upon a curious nature and a youthful energy, combined with some simple and honest Swedish craftsmanship.
Employing some of the leading design talents of today, Mitab choose to work with young, creative and talanted designers who share both their curiosity and ambition. The current roster of designers includes the award-winning design studio Form Us With Love, Note Design Studio and Joel Karlsson, with recent projects spanning Google, H&M, Skype, Sony and Volvo.
One of our favorite Mitab products with a story to tell is ‘Button’ by design trio Form Us With Love.

Button is a piece of furniture that is literally made from waste and spare textile parts from other projects. The inspiration for the stool was found when Swedish design agency, Form Us With Love, visited a textile factory and were confronted with masses of fabric waste material. Button is an iconic product in sustainable design as it’s constructed using real left-over textile materials from production, in a true patch-work style. The parts meet in the center where a large button keeps everything in place and the result is a one-of-a-kind product.
The fabric for Button ‘Special Part Edition’ is picked by hand and finished by a trained upholsterer at the factory in Tranås. As a customer you cannot decide it’s appearance, but can delight in the fact you have a unique product, as no two Button stools look the same.
