Hand Grenade Pendant Lamp A110

The simple Hand Grenade lamp was designed by Alvar Aalto for the building of the Finnish Engineers’ Association in 1952. The same model was used in the Council Chamber of Säynätsalo Town Hall, a multifunction building complex comprising of town hall, shops, library and flats, in Finland, and considered one of the most important buildings Aalto designed in his career. The lamp is offered in white or black lacquered aluminium with a polished brass or painted white or black ring and because of its characteristic thin post and thick head form, not too dissimilar to that of a stick hand grenade, the A110 Lamp gained the moniker of the ‘Hand Grenade’.
