The Kanto magazine rack is an incredibly simple and sculptural item, constructed from a beautifully curved piece of bent plywood. Utilitarian in design, its purpose is to hold either a stack of magazines or alternatively, it is sturdy enough to hold logs and kindling for interior fireplaces. Kanto was designed by Pancho Nikander, a Finnish designer and boat builder, who continued with Artek’s tradition of bent wood products. The unique form in bent plywood follows three distinct turns, that together create an open storage space for magazines, papers and more. The rack is completed with a strong surface lacquer available in white, black, sage green or natural lacquered.
