Matégot Nagasaki Chair
Gubi
Overview

Mathieu Matégot was the first designer to combine metal tubing with perforated sheet metal, a combination that particularly characterises his work. The Nagasaki chair is one of few three-legged chairs and is included in the permanent exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum. The chair is composed of delicately perforated metal that acts as a seat and back, whilst tiny stirrups brace the tubular legs connecting the seat and the base together. The chair is iconic of 1950’s design and is available in colour combinations including black/red, black/yellow and black/white.
