Kai Stool
La Palma
Overview

Kai is a Japanese word that can be both interpreted and pronounced in many different ways, however its initial design started with paper. If you fold a piece of paper you get a crisp edge, and if you bend it you get a gentle, but tensioned curvature. The designer, Shin Azumi, was inspired to re-create the beauty of this in the design, resulting in the oppositional two elliptical lines recalling an opened seashell (seashell is “kai” in Japanese) The Kai stool is height adjustable stool with a stainless steel frame and seat in curved plywood, which is also available with an optional leather cushion.
