PH 80 Floor Lamp
Louis Poulsen

The PH three-shade system was originally designed in 1926 by Poul Henningsen; he was the first person to pursue a scientific approach to light and used the logarithmic spiral to achieve an even distribution of light over the entire curve of the shade. The PH directs the majority of the light downwards and each shade is made of mouth-blown opal three-layer glass, that features a glossy top and sandblasted matt underside, which means the lamp emits a soft, diffused light; the PH 80 also features a red top reflector that helps to produce a warm glow. PH 80 was put into production after Poul Henningsen, passed away as a celebration of what would have been his 80th birthday.
